AnalystPrep for CFA Level I: strengths, and the gap it leaves

AnalystPrep is usually the first name a candidate hears when the full curriculum starts to look expensive. It is a question-bank-first provider: study notes mapped to the curriculum, on-demand video lessons covering the material learning-outcome by learning-outcome, full-length timed mocks that mirror the real 180-question two-session format, and a bank of 3,000+ practice questions with explanations. There is a live-class option on top of the self-paced package, and subscriptions run either 12 months or lifetime.
That is a complete prep stack. If you have no study material at all, buy something like this before you buy anything like us.
What it does well
- Question volume at a sane price point. Three thousand questions is more than most candidates get through. Running out of practice material is not going to be your problem.
- Curriculum-mapped structure. Notes and videos follow the learning outcome statements, so you can tie your progress to the official curriculum instead of guessing whether you've covered a topic.
- Realistic mocks. Timed, full-length, split into two sessions like the real thing. Sitting one is the single most informative thing you can do six weeks out.
The gap it leaves
Here's the thing about a 3,000-question bank: access to questions was never the bottleneck. Two other things are.
First, when you see a question again. A question bank shows you a question when you click. If you got Q1,847 wrong in March, nothing brings it back to you in May, three days before you'd have forgotten it. You either remember to build your own review list, or the miss quietly stays a miss. Retention is a scheduling problem, and a QBank is not a scheduler.
Second, the language the question is written in. AnalystPrep, like every major provider, is English-only. If English is not your first language, a meaningful share of your wrong answers aren't knowledge failures at all — they're a missed least likely, or a must read as a should, or a term whose everyday translation quietly means something else in finance. More questions in English do not fix a problem caused by reading in English.
A useful diagnostic: when you review a miss, ask "did I not know this, or did I not read this?" If the second answer keeps coming up, buying a bigger question bank is buying more of the thing that already isn't working.

Which to buy
Buy AnalystPrep (or an equivalent) if you don't yet have curriculum coverage, you want video explanation of topics you've never seen, or you need a structured plan that maps to the official learning outcomes. None of that is what we do.
Add something like Charter5m if you already have coverage and your actual problem is one of these: the twenty minutes a day you have are in five-minute pieces, you keep re-forgetting things you once knew, or you're reading exam English as a second language and losing points to wording rather than to finance.
They are different jobs. Most candidates who buy both use the provider on weekends and the app on weekdays.
